I've been using the internet in some way since about 1996; first through Compuserve, then AOL. Finally in about 2001 we stopped using those services
and just began accessing the internet through IE. It is a bit nostalgic when I hear the sound of a modem connecting, since I can remember in high school having to hope I
wasn't staying online too long! While using AOL in about 1999/2000, I had my first taste at web development (though it was hardly even that) through the free
homestead service they provided.
Basically that was the extent of everything until I went to college. In the fall of 2002, I had to activate my webspace at Penn State to use as a
place to post my Geog 121 projects; This site was the shell for what is here. At the time I began looking into web development more to figure out what to put on the
site. By the summer of 2003, most of the content on this site was already here; most changes since then have just concerned format. I have somewhat archived the index
file over time, and that will be added here shortly. Most new development at this point concerns the integration of CSS and javascript. I think for now, I am done using
frames on any major part of my website.
Since I graduated from Penn State in May 2006, my editing rights over the files on the server ended on February 1, 2007. This forced me to relocate
the files to a new service. I chose Freewebs (http://www.freewebs.com. My account there is still active, and I am mainly using it
now for experimental purposes My Freewebs Site. Currently you'll see a political blog that I am developing.
